i threw away my tv. the clouds came in and it was sprinkling. i smashed it in a giant puddle that was left over from a late april snow i think i saw some smoke so i lit one up. it felt so good to see the tv guts in the parking lot, all strewn about as if the tv tself decided it was unsafe to exist any longer and took its own life. i wish that were so, then i wouldn't have to explain to my dad why i did the act. think of it, its much easier to say, "well it just started smoking so i brought it outside and all of a sudden it combusted from the inside out, I was lucky to have survived!"

"This is a scene from hell here. All the vehicles on fire. There are bodies burning around me, there are bodies lying around, there are bits of bodies."

I never knew that freedom smelled so good. Actually I've never smelled burning flesh before. I'll be sure to ask someone who comes home from Iraq if they experienced it. Oh, but that might be insensitive. It would be like asking a Gulf War vet about the worms that got into his brain while he was in the desert, or like asking a family in Iraq what it's like to be exposed to depleted uranium, everyone gets cancer. I should be careful what I say, what I ask, who I talk to, better not ask too many questions. Freedom smells too good to ruin for everyone.

new link on left bar: truthout

nothing wrong with a little truth in the darkest days of war and deception. we are just stupid enough to sacrifice it.

simple science, and a guide.

interesting to think about how we sell ouselves in general. i mean in a university we are required to sell our ideas to our professors. not a money deal but like in this article selling by "word and deed"-not easy. especially when you are not sure what you need, want or can afford to sell in the first place.
short announcement:
the campus greens will once again be sponsoring michael moore's oscar winning documentary, "Bowling for Columbine".
you too can join the hillarious horror ride on this friday at 7:30 sharp.
join us in the education arts lecture hall 115 (bottom floor)

and in the mean time check out moore's bush/hussein brawl page.
civilian body count database

the one thing aobut the war that you will not hear or see in the mainstrem news media is the above information.

franks: we don't do body counts

gravedigger: we count every one, well, 'cept when they're bombed to bits, its hard to count each piece and figger out how many bodys per pound of guts.

franks: we don't do nukes

ghost of iraqi: well eexceept for thee one that burrowed its leetle teep into my office beeldeeng. it blew, then blew again once deep into thee rubble.

franks: we don't do beans

iraqi mother: oh but what about the cans of beans you've been feeding the american public. you get them to enjoy the idea of destruction so much that when it comes time to rebuild they actually think it will boost their own economy. i've got news for you blastin' boy genius, the only economy you'll enhance is that of the top 1% that live in your stinkin' states.

Taking journalistic neutrality seriously doesn't mean a simplistic he said/she said balancing of claims. It means subjecting the claims of all sides to the same critical scrutiny.

neutruthity

i don't know much about the history of arnett, but it seems as though what ever his mistakes were, they were done in order to correct some much bigger ones in the past. perhaps allowing the war mongers to report the way they see the war is just not enough anymore. and like the writer mentioned, when reporters "criticize" the war tactics, they are not criticizing the reasons for war itself. they are agreeing to an unjust attack, trying to stick their finger in the pie and wiggle out a few cherries for themselves.
yikes i've been gone for a while. humblest apologies to myself and my grade.

announcement: louise mengelkoch and i will be showing "Bowling for Columbine"
room 115 of the Education Arts building, right here at BSU! The movie will begin at 5:30 pm and all are welcome to stay for a discussion afterward.

moore's oscar!

as you can see i really like michael moore. dog bless him for speaking the truth. fictious, i love it!
"Anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices," Voltaire wrote in 1767

how far can we follow blindly? when our blindness turns to a deafening scream of innocent deaths worldwide will we open our eyes? or will we continue on squeezing them tighter and listening harder to an unelected president, following in goosestep behind an arogant war machine so that we might not be trampled underneath it? but what about the trampled? could every iraqi civilian be evil? does the evil reside in the heart of the black moustached man-our demon? could we at least ask why? and get an answer besides war=peace?

casualties of war-first truth, then conscience
"In the domestic media siege being maintained by top-notch spinners and shrewd political advisers at the White House, conscience is in the cross hairs. They aim to intimidate, stampede and suppress the many millions of Americans who recognize the deranged and murderous character of the war makers in Washington." -Norman Solomon
